Brownfields Redevelopment – Automotive Parts Manufacturing Plant
The Challenge:
Guide our client through the process of negotiating and fulfilling the terms of a Brownfields Voluntary Cleanup Contract (VCC). The contract was needed to allow the client to safely purchase a manufacturing plant that was previously documented to be impacted by groundwater contaminated with trichloroethene (TCE), a chlorinated solvent.
Our Solution:
EnviroSouth prepared and implemented a work plan for assessment of soil and groundwater underlying the property. By rapidly responding to regulatory questions and approvals, the entire process was completed within the client’s tight time requirements.
What's Unique:
By entering into a Brownfield contract with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), the purchaser was allowed to take ownership with guarantees that they will not be held liable for pre-existing contamination under Federal CERCLA (Superfund) laws.
